Why would anyone leave London for Christmas?



A few years ago, in the run-up to Christmas, I visited New York in December. I wanted to know if I wanted to be *somewhere else* during the festive time. I saw the lights, shopped like my credit card would never get declined, wore glitzy outfits to company Christmas parties, listened to carols in St Patrick’s Cathedral and skated round Central Park, absorbing every glittering bauble Manhattan could throw at me.
