Wipro bags five-year multi-million contract from Etihad Airways


Wipro, India’s fourth largest IT services major, has bagged a multi-million-dollar deal for a five-year tenure from Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to lead its technology modernisation, the company announced on Thursday.The financial details of the deal remained undisclosed.

“Wipro will ensure seamless migration of legacy systems and improve operational efficiency across key areas, including workplace, network, infrastructure, and service management,” Wipro said in a statement.

As part of the five-year contract, Wipro FullStride Cloud will deliver a customised cloud-based solution that will provide Etihad Airways real-time insights into their resource utilisation and improve operational agility and scalability for their global operations, it added.

The deal is part of the third quarter deal bookings, the company highlighted.

Additionally, Etihad Airways will gain access to Wipro’s Innovation Lab in the UAE for its technology offerings.Wipro’s will leverage its generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) modules to provide intelligent device management and insights that will optimize performance and resolve potential disruptions proactively.

For the third quarter ending December 2024, total deal bookings declined sequentially by 1.3% to stand at $3.5 billion. Large deal bookings stood at $0.96 billion.

Recently, Wipro posted a 24.5% rise year-on-year in consolidated net profit for the quarter for the October to December period at Rs 3,353.8 crore, which sequentially grew by 4.5%. During the same period, consolidated revenue rose 0.5% and weaker by 0.1% on a quarter-on-quarter basis to Rs 22,318.8 crore.
