Workshop highlights tech for disaster management, maritime security – Borneo Bulletin


Around 50 participants attended the Satellite Mapping and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-Driven Integrated Data Networks for Disaster Management and Maritime Security workshop recently, hosted by ASTARI, an innovation hub under Poni Group Sdn Bhd.

The event featured insights from President of Earth Sight International, Canada Brian Craddock who discussed how technologies such as satellite mapping, AI systems and tools such as Fuego are improving disaster forecasting, mitigating environmental risks and enhancing maritime border security.

The session also highlighted the United Nations-SPIDER Project, which allows Bruneian agencies to contribute data to strengthen global disaster prediction models while gaining access to advanced tools. – James Kon
